Work opportunities for the 2025 growing season

Living Tree Alliance is a farming, residential, and educational community located on 93 acres in the fertile and beautiful Mad River Valley of Central Vermont. Our property includes a co-housing community, pastures for grazing and farming, rivers (with amazing swimming holes), a sugar bush, forests, and a system of hiking and mountain biking trails that connect to the local school and community. We have many opportunities for this summer and fall.

Collective Garden Manager 

April/May–October

The garden manager will work to grow, maintain, and organize the collective garden at Living Tree. The manager will be responsible for coordinating all garden maintenance needs, collaborating with the garden mentor team, and working in close partnership with the Living Tree Alliance Farm Circle and nonprofit educational staff. Arts Counselor 

June 30–July 4

Seeking a counselor skilled in leading elementary school-aged children in artistic expression. The ideal candidate has experience creating props for parades and floats. Pay will depend on experience. Apply here by April 1.  

Assistant Camp Counselor 

June 30–July 4, Aug. 4–8, Aug. 18–22

This person will assist the lead counselor. They will arrive early to prepare the grounds for the day, and stay late to clean up. During the camp, they will help to manage and engage children at the camp, following the lead of the lead counselor. Experience working with children is required. Ideally looking for an assistant who can attend all three weeks of camp, but will consider applicants with partial availability. Pay dependent on experience. Apply here by April 1. 

Sukkot Fellowship Leader  

Remote work starting in May; in person, Sept. 28–Oct. 19

The Sukkot Fellowship Leader will lead four to six young adults in working on the farm, preparing for Living Tree’s Sukkot on the Farm festival, and learning about earth-based Judaism. Leading up to the immersive leadership experience, the candidate will help prepare for the fellows’ arrival, help promote the program, and organize the program. A stipend is provided as well as housing during the three weeks of the program. Seeking a candidate with experience leading groups, and who has participated in Jewish immersive programs. Work-Trade Opportunity 

 Farm worker, 1–4 months, June–October 

Looking for motivated individuals to become part of our community and help on the farm for one to four months. In exchange for two to three days of work per week (3- to 4-hour shifts, with possible additional work for special events), participants receive a place to put up their tent on Living Tree land, along with basic living amenities. LTA’s agricultural land is 13 acres with three-quarters of an acre planted with rotated annual crops, perennial berries, herbs, flowers, a greenhouse, and a small orchard of fruit trees. We raise meat birds and laying hens and manage a small herd of Jacob’s sheep. Full description and application found here. 

Educational Opportunities 

apprenticeship program 

This is an opportunity to apprentice with us for a full calendar year—starting in spring or early fall—to experience the cycle of life in the community and on the farm. The apprentice will become a temporary part of the cohousing, farm, and nonprofit communities to learn about village building, regenerative agriculture, earth-based Judaism, and outdoor education. An opportunity for young adults to learn about earth-based Judaism, regenerative agriculture, and engage in putting on Living Tree’s annual Sukkot on the Farm festival the weekend of October 10–12. Click here for more info.
