Truth Mandala
Grief Ritual to honor Tisha B’av – Jewish Day of mourning
Wednesday Eve, July 26 – Thursday, July 27
Moretown, VT
Please join us in honoring our individual and collective grief on this traditional day of grieving in the Hebrew Calendar.
This is a day and 1/2 observance that starts Wednesday evening and ends Thursday afternoon. The Truth Mandala ritual will be during camp hours on Thursday. Wednesday evening – babysitting will be available during the evening ritual.
Most of our woundings happened in the context of others, therefore our healing must also be found within the holding of community. Join us in this tender, held space of witnessing and being witnessed in the exploration of our grief. Our grief is not only the loss and trauma in our own lifetimes, but it is also the imprints of our ancestors and lineages living in our bones and blood memories. As organic creatures dwelling upon the Earth, our grief is also the destruction and loss of so many other species and life to the powers of greed and separation in our human world.
If ever there was a time to turn toward this immense and collective grief, it is now. With the rootedness of the tradition of our ancestors to ground and guide us and the wisdom and contextualization of Joanna Macy’s Work that Reconnects, we will be supported and informed by this multiplicity of tools and perspectives to help us tend what’s tender, honor our grief and maybe, open up a space inside ourselves and our collective human heart for integration, healing and wholeness.
Rustic camping sites provided in the farm field. If you don’t like camping there are many local bed and breakfasts in the area, book ahead of time.
This is a contemplative practice for adults – childcare will be provided upon request – Wednesday night. Summer camp is in session on Thursday 9-3pm – pre-registration required.
